ICE Dome
St. Petersburg, Russia

Ice Dome was made to host Ice Sculpture Exhibition in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2003.

The Ice Dome was 44m long, 17m wide and 8m high and the total structure weighed approximately 1,6 metric tonnes.  Ten people could erect and deflate the structure in four hours.

Despite the fact that over 300 people were inside the building simultaneously, the inside temperature remained at a constant -8°C.  Ultimately, it was an outstanding success, and over 100,000 people visited the Ice Exhibition.

After the great success of the first inflatable structure Lindstrand Technologies then designed and built the ‘annexe’ that created an innovative foyer for the main structure.

After the event in St Petersburg, the Ice Dome was exhibited on a barge in Stockholm harbour where it maintained -8°C inside when the outside temperature was 20°C.

It was later erected in Kiruna over 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle, and its latest use was as the venue for an Ice Sculpture Exhibition in Sao Paulo, Brazil where it was the focal point in a Volvo Truck Exhibition.
