Tacoma Park, Washington DC, USA
Lindstrand Technologies was approached by one of the libraries in Washington DC to produce an inflatable wall which could be erected between the flood barrier brick walls and protect the building on the occasion of flood.
The 2×8 metre drop stitch inflatable barrier was constructed and packed into a trench under hinged doors hence completely out of view. A water level sensor activates the air fan, which inflates the flood barrier by air pressure. It will then rise out of the trench and flick the doors open and slide up along two vertical stainless steel rods forming a perfect flood barrier. This process is fully automatic.
